damn dude. my right hip is red/itchy from those shorts. and after taking them off, i felt like i had "prickly" things all over my waist/groin.

had a bad reaction to the fabric maybe.. so weird.

beyond the fabric potentially F'n me up, they feel so awful.

truly shocked.

returning them tomorrow, might just try to get them to give me the same 30% discount i got on them, with a pair of shoes (endorphin racer 2). who knows.

mind blown.

Sucks...in the past year or so I have gone almost exclusively Nike with any athletic clothes. Shoes are a different story, but Nike clothes seem to fit right overall. Used to get Under Armour compression shorts all the time...got Nike like a year ago and have bought a few more Nike pairs since. I know you're partly "paying for a brand name" but they are legit. I'd rather spend extra money on something that isn't going to let me down.

man my right big toe is fucked.. just so weird.

prior to yesterday, it actually healed up.. felt great. Then yesterday (after a rest day), it felt wrecked wtf.. Today it felt wrecked as well, then i tried saving some butterfly which was roasting on these hot steps, stayed on a bit longer than i probably should have, and now it's wrecked*2.. left foot is completely fine - so the heat didn't affect my left foot.. so there's something going on, in this one spot of my toe, which is just baffling: now it feels like nerve damage PLUS burn damage.

just logging for future reference.

Fuarkk big toe problems are just shit.

ya they are.. take soooo long to heal. i've had several.. this one is definitely the weirdest.

FEH FEH FEH!@#)(@!)@!(

Pretty sure mine will never heal. Permanent turf toe. I think I had some displaced sesamoid bones at one point too, but they seem to have recessed back into the joint or something. So it's not as bad right now, but it's still annoying as shit.

Any of you guys try some kind of treatment? I've lost at least 3 toenails and had a whole bunch of ingrown ones from wearing poorly fitted cleats and improper nail trimming technique. Now both my toes are unsightly as fuck but because i haven't used my cleats in a while I don't know if it will affect my playing (although it has in the past). Is a visit to the podiatrist worth it?

I never had any treatment either. And I've never lost a toenail despite sort of forgetting to cut them and letting them grow a little longer than they probably should be. That being said, if I have another "flare up" or whatever you want to call it at some point, I'll probably try going to a podiatrist. Sometimes the joint where my toe meets my foot is on fire. Lately it's just slightly annoying. Playing volleyball on a hard court definitely wrecks it...

I sit at a computer all day for work. Guaranteed posture problems. My back definitely gets rounded throughout the day if I don't focus on having good posture while I sit. And it's simply not possible to focus on it all the time when I'm actually trying to work. That being said, I don't think it affects my athletic performance a whole lot. I feel like my posture seems to naturally (temporarily) improve when playing sports for whatever reason.

I think a lot of my problem is that the muscles in my chest and the front of my shoulder are much stronger than the ones in my back and the back of my shoulder. This seems to cause everything to be pulled forward. I played baseball my whole life until I was about 24-25, but for the last 6-8 years of that I was primarily just a pitcher. At one point I had to go to physical therapy due to throwing shoulder issues, and they told me that the muscles in the back of my shoulder and in my back near my shoulder blade were really weak. It seemed sort of crazy to me at the time since the pain was up in my shoulder. But sure enough, I did a lot of exercises focusing on those areas and the pain went away.

Anyway, I'm hoping that dedication to a full body lifting program will result in being stronger everywhere which will lead to better posture and overall well-being.  I'm also considering the switch to a standing desk at work if I can swing it.

199 and 32" waist is impressive. how lean are you?
I was thinking the same thing. I'm like 178 right now and 33".

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: 2011 Goals Index
« on: April 05, 2011, 09:33:01 am »
I only have one real goal that I'd like to accomplish by the end of 2011 and that's head at 9'10".  Head at the rim would be nice though...

Current RVJ = ~40"
Goal RVJ = 47"

It would be ideal if I could actually do this by October 2011 which is when winter volleyball and basketball leagues start again.

Introduce Yourself / Re: New to the board, not so new to jumping

Yeah I never thought I'd actually meet people on IRC who gave a shit about jumping lol...

But yeah thanks for the comments, regardless of how high I'm jumping now, I still have a lot of work to do to get where I want to be.  I'd like to add at least 6" by October 2011 if possible.

Yeah I'm gonna try to find a place I can get into sometime soon.  Another problem I had today was I kept getting too far under the rim on my take off instead of taking off a little in front of it....just shit I gotta work on I guess

Yep Iowa.  Wasn't too bad earlier today, and then it rained and cool down like 10 degrees and got windy as hell.  But yeah I'm not too happy with the vid...going to have to try get something better out there sometime soon.  Hopefully on a better court.

Hey what's going on...I joined yesterday but haven't posted because I was waiting until I got a video.  I'm a 25 year old (almost 26) guy from the midwest who's pretty much just into sports in general.  Right now I'm just playing volleyball, basketball, and slow pitch softball.

Anyway, I'm just trying to work on increasing my vertical.  I used to be able to jump higher back in my high school/college days and I've lost a little bit, so I'm going to try to get it back.  I'm only about 5'11 with shoes on so I need all the vertical I can get.  Anyway...here's a vid of what I can do now, any tips on what you think might help are appreciated...

Note: I didn't really have time to warm up for the vid as I had to be somewhere and my recording got delayed by rain.  It was also windy and sort of cold so I couldn't do any lobs really, and the rim also wasn't breakaway and tore the shit out of my hands...but no excuses.  I'll try to post some better efforts later.  And oh yeah, remember to switch the vid to 720p...makes it look a little better I think.  Anyway, I'm out...
