still limited mobility, but getting better. tomorrow marks 4 weeks since the injury. guessing i'll wait 1-2 more weeks?

if it was a bad sprain, seems normal that it'd still be hurt now, after less than a month. i sprained my right ankle six times when i was in my early 20s and the worse ones took a month or so to recover from. definitely recommend doing some ankle-specific rehab. for example:

- single leg balancing (progress by standing on a cushion, closing your eyes, throwing a ball against the wall and catching it, and setting up obstacles on the ground to reach for while maintaining balance)
- towel toe curls (stand or sit with your toes on the edge of a towel and curl your toes to draw the towel underneath your foot a bit at a time)
- ankle circles (max range of motion in both directions, and to mix it up you can use your big toe to spell out the alphabet in the air)

oh i see. yea soon to be a month since i injured it. thanks though will try some of those out. yea my range of motion on my right foot has been hampered, but think i'm close to being able to do pistol squats again with it

damn, sorry about your ankle. big difference between snapped (broken) and sprained, though. i'm guessing you mean sprained, since you didn't talk about a cast or getting surgery? anyway good luck. lord knows there's plenty of jump training resources in the archives here.

thanks. yea it's more so sprained, but man is it taking a long to recover from. i injured it on november 7th, i think i'm gonna wait 2-3 more weeks before resuming any exercise

am back again. sprained/snapped my ankle 3 weeks ago playing soccer, so have been resting since then. suddenly excited again though about dunking/increasing vert, so will get into it more exclusively once i'm back.

past few years i've been mostly focused on basketball though, playing focused and joining leagues. can still snap the rim off both plants though.

think i'll give it 2 more weeks of rest and then i'll start training to jump higher exclusively again. biggest problems i think will be finding lower rims and a gym where i can properly squat and deadlift though. will have to do more exploring/research to find more resources for jump training

just signed up for a year at an MMA gym yesterday. hope to still get some low rim dunking in here and there. and also play some pick up too.

8
need to work on my 1 foot jumping

9
back to playing pick up ball

10
stuck with RL on the same rim as last time. was absolutely hammering everything down lol. think i'll just stick with RL

11
did a 2-3 hour dunk session on a 9'3'ish hoop. did all plants

100% injury free now. only thing that's bothering me is this callus under my left foot which i'm gonna take care of

hey, i haven't been too active on this forum lately but still remember you. i see you still weightlift, but do you still do jump training? i remember you used to be able to dunk 2 handed off a standing vert lol, that was crazy.

no recent jump training for me. i can still jump in the 30s last time i tried but the landings are brutal if i'm heavier than 185lb. i'm 212 now so no way i'm landing 30+ jumps without breaking anything.

oh i see. that's still pretty good. cool that you're still into lifting.

am wondering if playing 5v5 full court on 9'6 rims with a fiba 3x3 ball (size 6) is viable.

have been playing pickup here, and ppl seem to be fine playing on rims that are a few inches shorter, like 9'9/9'10. so my thinking is why not make the rims even a bit shorter, to make in game dunking viable.

i guess the lower the rim is, the more it'll mess with people's shot though. so i believe around 9'6 is about the point where dunking is easy enough, without being too low.
