Apart from genetics/talent, what other qualities do you see in Casey accomplishing that 6.59?.

Low bodyweight?.
Great elasticity/spring?.

Doesn't look to have great "strength" levels in the purest form of max strength.

Any thoughts?.

well, he doesn't "look strong from a physique sense", but either do the people who bend ridiculous level iron/pans/nails/etc.. either does stefan holm and many of those youtube dunkers etc..

i havn't seen him shirtless or nearly nude (speedo) but i imagine he wouldn't look weak.. i imagine he would look pretty solid/dense even though he is so light.

genetics is his #1 quality, he hasn't been studied so who knows, but i'm assuming it's completely optimal leverages/tendons for sprinting, very high percentage of type IIx fibers throughout his body, really incredible CNS, relative strength off the charts, etc.

he has to be crazy strong relative to his bodyweight, to perform the way he does.. there's just no other way to describe his power.. he's not purely reactive, that's for sure.. he looks very strong to me.. that type of acceleration & 'drop step VJ tuck jump' require a very high amount of raw power. if he was ALL tendon, his acceleration would be nowhere at the level it was.

he's very strong no doubt about it.

mirin squats breh  8)

hi

Hey man, looking at your signature/stats, assuming your still around the same since it says that was from October 2010, we are pretty similar.  I'm 5'9" wit shoes and 148 lbs.  36" RVJ but I can't dunk like you cuz I got short arms, my reach is only 7'0".  Seems like you squat a lot more than me though.  How has the correlation between increasing squat and your vert increases been?

Also, I think you had an ankle injury recently or something?  I had one 5 weeks ago from basketball, it's still not healed.  The swelling is like 90% gone, and I can do most things on it, but I still can't land on the injured ankle alone on a jump, run full speed, or twist my ankle around in weird angles.  I still find some heel upper heel/ inner ankle pain.  The frustrating part is that my ankle has been in this same condition for like 2.5 weeks now and doesn't seem to be improving much anymore.  All I do on it is do shooting drills, no games or anything.  You experience this from your injury?

Got any advice on speeding up the recovery process?

My vert is pretty low right now, I've added a few lbs to gain overall strength (about 165 right now), and I have pretty much only been squatting, no explosive exercises, and not much jumping. When I don't have any explosive exercises in my training my vert suffers A LOT. But once I add more weight to squat I will add in more explosive exercises (reactive squat, jump squat, depth jumps) and my vert will supercompensate and I will set pr's. To answer your question, a squat increase does yield a vert increase but not immediately, after I add in exercises that will help me display the strength quicker it will.

Yea I got a high ankle sprain just a few days after I posted those stats up. LAWL. It really threw my training off. I didn't squat or do anything for over a month. Then I started back into squatting, then eventually jumping/sprinting but at a low volume. Only within the past few weeks have I felt like I can do anything now without worrying about it. Lance recommended I start doing calf raise negatives, get on smith machine, do a double leg calf raise, then for the eccentric portion only lower on the injured leg. I added those in and I think they helped my ankle adapt to taking heavy force again.

Congrats on tying pr. That is exactly what happened to me, vert was low, started this phase, tied pr's pretty quick then passed them up.

For the sprints I kept them to 10 yards and only did a few. Like 2 submax then 2-4 100%. For the bounding I would go until I was tired each set, so a few of them were with fatigue. Usually got 12-14 each set. Really powerful arm swing and pushing off the ground as hard as I could.

My vert would usually go down a little bit each session and then a few days after session 3 msem it would supercompensate and that's when I set most of my pr's.

You are definitely gonna pr soon. 32 is gonna be old news soon!

Thanks man. What rest did you take between sets and movements? E.g. during bounds?

I take a lot of rest time in between sets when I workout so my sessions are usually pretty long. But I like to be well recovered so I can give each set 100%. 2 mins minimum for everything, longer for squatting, more like 4-6mins.

sick post adarq

I feel the same way, but you are the mastermind with all of the knowledge. For me, I won't be happy until I reach 40+ rvj, but of course I will want to go higher after that.

I've never been satisfied with people congratulating me on accomplishments (whether it be vert, physique, weightlifting, tennis, w/e) by just saying "wow, that's really good" or "I'm impressed". I'm not saying I don't like compliments like that, but I want people to be speechless. I want them to think I'm a freak.

I'm proud to be a member of adarq.org (here since the beginning, june 09 u mirin? jk but srs).

I'm with you on this journey to elite status.

I watched this last year, pretty sweet. On the NFL's website they have live streams of the combine and show a schedule of positions/events. They have a couple of different cameras showing different events and the video quality is pretty high too.

Some brains up in here.

I took the SAT and ACT, didn't study for either of them.

JC I wish I was like you and was genuinely interested in school. Almost every quarter I ask myself why I'm in school. I don't know what career I want. I don't care about getting a 4.0. I don't study very often. I'm much more of a hands on learner, when I read or listen to something I'm not really interested in I have 0 focus and don't retain much at all. I've never tried Adderall but I did talk to my psychologist about it before he retired, I mentioned it to my doctor and I could tell he didn't want to prescribe it. Psychologist thought it would help because I am a slow test taker/reader and have trouble with focus.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles though, I hope you get through everything ok.
