Nice dunks man. I think your enjoyng yourself more this time around compared to when you were real serious about vert. Your also going to prove that training the aerobic energy system (distance running) is not 'negative' on vert training. Keep that shit up mang! Got to see your lifting again aswell.

 :strong: - FTW!!!!!!

Well that depends on how you classify distance running, adarq isn't really doing distance running. But intense distance running, like 3k plus training will definitely not be positive for your vert, it will be pretty much negative

True but even the 100m dash as an endurance aspect. After ~60-80m. And if darq wants to race the mile (1.6k) that would still classify as distance running, im just trying to say that regardless it still uses different fibre type/energy system for that instead of vert, and darq will still be getting up, just like that dunk vid after running 6+ miles.

- 400's x 10

thats nucking futs

come on zgin, its Lord Darqman, never underestimate him, some has said he is from Neptune, some say Saturn, some say he's son of hercules but one thing is for certain, he is not human.

Just another question Andrew, through strength/explosive training Ive come to a point where i can put X amount of force into the ground. Now whenever i sprint, jump whatever i get MUSCULAR pains throughout my lower leg. Mostly laterally. I think it's dew to weak ankle stabilizers or something. What would your take on the matter be along with corrective exercise? thanks in advance. Sorry for turning your journal into a Q and A again.

my best broad jump (well only time i done it was last year) was 2.85 metres  ~112", I want to start recording it again and hit 3m......................THAT VID ANDREW POSTED UP WAS CRAZY!

The broad jump seems to use a fair amount more glute (hip extension) and less quad (knee extension)

The east coast is crazy now (boozer and stoudemire gone) but i dont think miami will do as well as people think, Bosh, Wadem and bron are all used to being th "go to guy" in there old teams, it will be quite difficult for them to mesh together but IF they do, get the fuck out of the way!  ;D

Article & Video Discussion / Re: Interesting Glute article
« on: July 03, 2010, 12:07:37 am »
I realize this is an old thread but...

I couldn't agree more.  In fact years ago Tom Myslinski posted on elitefts the same sentiments.  Quads are important during acceleration, and are VERY important for deceleration.  Jumping is driven by glute, quad, and calf function.  Ankle stiffness (calves) are important for sprinting speed.  So basically if you play a sport other than track, quads are very important.

The quad backlash came from the squat/olympic sc programs that STILL dominate the sc community.  Those of us here are smart enough to know that glutes and hams are more important for speed development but that fact is lost on 90% of the sc community.  Us smart folk are just a small slice of the pie and are no where near a representative sample.

But in the end it is all about balance.  You need enough pchain strength/power to reach full extension at toe off.  Strong enough quads to stop quickly, turn, and jump.  Enough ankle stiffness to handle all the forces of acceleration and top speed sprinting.

GREAT POST ALEX!
