i might be 75% of the through pulling vines off of the trees in the cypress swamp. maybe 75% through also in the back forrest. it's never ending BUT there's major progress. it's crazy living here for 5 years and still not visiting so much of the property.... every time i unlock a new spot it's just mindblowing :wowthatwasnutswtf: in the process found a bunch of native/fruiting guava trees hidden inside the brush. pretty cool

that remaining 25 + 25% probably take me to 2027. hoping to have it all done by 2027. goal is to be able to walk through every inch of the property. i was at say 25% when i moved in way back. vast majority of the property was unnavigable.

do about 3-4 hours a day of vine pulling / cutting through brush with the goats.

one day the satellite before/afters are going to be nuts. maybe the drone photos too. i've gone enough "before's" laying around for when i do the afters.

but yeah it is so much easier with the goat gang (8 goats). every pull of something edible and they are so excited.. so each pull of vines/invasive stuff is rewarding because the goats can't wait to devour it. and they will eat non-stop for as long as i'm out there removing this stuff.... once i'm done they will lay down for a bit and recover, except for twitch (our fat baby goat); she'll just keep going. lmao

it's weird man i am completely immersed in this stuff.. i guess like i get with everything.. but for this is just non stop outside physical labor with animals. the best feeling ever LoL

goats are so funny, that one gets whacked in the head and without missing a beat starts eating the thing that just whacked it in the head.

glad you're happy down there, adarq! how are the silkies themselves?
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

https://evokeendurance.com/resources/muscular-endurance-all-you-need-to-know/

Came across this recently when I was reading about the winners of last year's UTMB, Tom Evans and Ruth Croft. Both are coached by Scott Johnston and he's a big advocate of 'muscular endurance' (which he does via either like weighted hill walking or big circuits of lower body stuff). The training sounded super familiar, since I remembered you advocating for the like 1000 rep lunge workouts based on your reading of Yuri Verkhoshansky. Well, lo and behold, everything old is new again, and Johnston took if from Yuri as well! Hype to see that name coming back around, and this time in the endurance world rather than the power world.

is it just me or do all these "vert bros" train really good now?? isaiah rivera, j kilganon, etc do lots of familiar stuff that we respect on here.. and now their followers/other ridiculous leapers train similarly. the days of gimmick lame vert training seem to be nearly gone.. it's weird but i do think we had a big part in that. i know both of those two i mentioned, learned a lot on here.. but beyond that they have pushed themselves using very intense training/effective methods, found their own ideal programming, reached an elite level, and shared a lot of that effective training with the next generations.. the vert/dunk world is insane right now.

and people actually show up just to watch people do vertec style jumping (vertecs, bells etc) max vert competitions.. i mean wtf.. it's amazing. love it.

lmao. fun times :D

the higher volume ones i'd do on the soccer/futbol fields. up and back 100 yards etc. i forget the counts but i'd do like 5+ up and backs. the initial soreness from those was pretty ridiculous ... and then the adaptation, legs felt bionic.. was kind of astonishing. i never seemed to be able to keep it up for more than a few weeks. i feel like that stuff had some weird long term benefits, mental and physical.

that stuff makes hamstrings/glutes/quads feel like you're on a different planet or becoming some other life form. potential rapid adaptations but almost too difficult to sustain lol.

dno

oh nice! 95 end to end, pretty much.

yeah. loved it. got more road trips planned.. farm life def gets in the way tho.. went from like 2 dependencies (dogs) to 100 (dogs + goats/chickens/ducks/turkeys/quail)  :derp: :uhcomeon: :wowthatwasnutswtf:

just fixed my truck to try and road trip it.. one of my big lifted gas guzzler ones. i do feel like i could road trip it. that thing always amazes me.. nearly all spark plugs were cooked but it could still drive decent .. rough but decent. changed plugs/coils and some other stuff, thing just drove like a bugatti. prolly has close to 200k miles on it but can't really tell anymore.

one time i figured i'd have some place do an oil change and a few things to it.. give myself a break. drove it like a month and finally realized they only put a quart of oil in it.. somehow it didn't die. they used to make stuff built to last  :almostascoolasnyancat:

that's one of many reasons i try to do everything myself first. i've had so many bad experiences with stuff like that.

also just came within 20 yards of a full size bobcat, about a half hour ago. saw it lurking in the back, went out to see what it was up to.
