Yomif Kejelcha is going for the indoor mile WR soon.. :wowthatwasnutswtf:

This looks like it's going to be a sick (short) documentary, hope they release the full vid eventually.

and man he can fly.. look at that speed. he can chase mile WR's AND he's gone like 59:1X in the half marathon.. that is some incredible range. This is the kind of stuff that can also make for a WR-level marathoner eventually (ie Kipchoge style).

190201 Poped my 2nd pair of KD9..
The final day of before Chinese New year and I went to jump around...
poped my Left KD9 lol..

on to my 3rd pair for the new year... the ELITE edition in White.. lol

This shoes is soo dope...
Every Single pair will pop sooner or later, much like the LG G4 cell phone which will doomed to be burn out mother board, just a matter of times.

So U cant wait.. the FINISH HIM ( mortal combat voice) with all the KD9, and take out my Boost Rose sneaker in ugly pink...

Keep Jumping..

that's crazy lol. air bubble technology sucks.

btw, I did 3 x10km already... so 7 more run left before end of Feb 28.

nice!!

Very strong everywhere. Getting 'aware' that my back is strong now. Feeling more and more confident day by day to let power flow through it, not sure i am describing it right, hope you get it.

that makes perfect sense, and that's great news!

Still, gonna stick with the plan, although the temptation to try more intense thing is growing huge. Doing this thing  im doing 3 more weeks, then i go skiing, then i re-eavaluate.

ya hold back still for a bit! stick2theplan, it's a good plan.

greats news that you're feeling more confident though, that's a sign things are def healing/strengthening up.

just noticed..

I did 343 miles in January 2019, which makes that my 4th most miles *ever* in a month (373, 354, 346, 343). BUT, I did that *without* doubles for the last 2 weeks (50% of the month) AND took rest days each of those weeks (6d).

*also*: I didn't do a single speed session all month.. and I eclipsed my 10k PR by almost a minute! I imagine my 5k is at-or-near PR levels as well. mile, definitely not. but I did have some crazy kicks at the end of races (ultra, 10k, half) which showed that my speed is fine.

that's pretty cool.

plan is to keep doing what i'm doing. need to be a little more careful though, been tweaking my calves all month (mostly soleus). gastroc tweaks are scarier for me, can't really run if that's tweaked.

i race so often that I need to be careful with how hard I train during the week, especially now that i'm racing longer distances more often. i'd like to get to the point where I can do a strong half or full whenever, for example. oh a full next week? cool let me go try to top3 that. etc.

i like this new routine i'm on where i simply try to get in 1.5-2 hours of running every morning. feels like it's working very well. you can just feel when your aerobic base improves considerably, running feels very different.. especially when you're 1.5 hours into a run and feel like cranking out some harder miles in the end, and somehow you just can. the ability to do that happens when you really up your running strength.

waking up earlier helps. i'd like to get in 2 hours every morning but i really need to wakeup earlier for that.. 2 hours is way harder than 1.5 hours though.. i mean psychological it's a whole different level. 1.5 seems do-able for me. so i'll keep cranking that out, throwing in 2-ish occasionally and 3-ish once a week (long run), and then who knows maybe i'll be able to go 2 hours every morning at some point.

i figure if i do that for months on end (and maybe years on end), i might obtain some of that magic those oldschool runners captured when they did crazy sh*t like that. these guys were animals, they ran 120-150 miles per week. so much of it slow, and raced very frequently. then they'd drop 28:XX 10k's, <2:10 marathons etc. it's incredible. and they seemed to always feel like crap, according to their journals. i need that kind of aerobic weaponry.

:D

rest day!

right calf (gastroc) is alot better than yesterday. still not sure whether i'll signup for a small 5k tomorrow. i feel like my calf will be fine tomorrow but not 100% sure. this tightness behind the knee stuff can get worse so i have to be careful.

other than that, feel really good.

News, Announcements, & Suggestions / created an "Old Journals" section
« on: January 31, 2019, 03:46:25 pm »
meant to post this the other day:

I had removed the "Journal Graveyard" a while ago. So, after gukl's request to move an old journal to the graveyard, I created "Old Journals" instead.

I don't really like the concept of: "Journal Graveyard: Quitters, Deserters, etc". I guess when I created it back then, I was annoyed when people stopped journaling, stopped training, etc. So maybe it was partially a tactic to shame people who stopped journaling etc, in an effort to keep others focused etc. Who knows.. Regardless, it was too aggressive. That kind of stuff might work short term, but the result in the end will always be the same.

Anyway, I moved all journals over a year old into this new section, no exceptions. No disrespect intended either, just some maintenance. It makes sense that the journals section should represent actively maintained material, so you have a clear picture of how many people are consistently or somewhat-consistently working on something.

We have an "arcane system" on here, but it works.

peace!

I got a call from the Defense Force today they want me to come in on the 13th of February for a medical examination and psychological test. If I pass that I'll be enlisted then off to boot camp.

had a dunking dream last night. i walked into my elementary school gym, with my 4th-5th grade gym teacher already there setting up for class. i was going to participate in class. we greeted each other warmly -- he was a good teacher -- and then he kept placing cones or whatever. i was the first person to arrive other than him. there was a basketball hoop, and i decided to see how much height i'd lost on my vertical since i stopped training. to my surprise i got a couple knuckles cleanly over the rim on my first jump. he looked up and said, something like, "wow, nice jump." i said, "i used to be able to get higher, but now i'm only running so my vert's gone down." but i tried again and got even higher, mid-palm. by this point the gym was filling up with classmates, all also adults. we huddled in the corner (oddly, in retrospect, but it felt normal in the dream) waiting for class to start but i decided to try one more jump. i got at least an inch past my wrist, as high as i ever jumped in real life. i was shocked and amazed and really happy that i could still jump so high.

then i woke up.  :(

nice dream. still being able to jump high would be fun. being able to jump crazy high "naturally" would be awesome.

interesting saying this in the dream: "i used to be able to get higher, but now i'm only running so my vert's gone down".

you know what's odd, i didn't journal it but wanted too (forgot), i had a vert dream on monday or so.. simply, i was trying to film some jumps, which were incredible: elbow over rim. but, my phone kept falling over and i couldn't get a clip. finally i got a clip, played it back, and was very happy. then i woke up :(

pc!
