beastin`, too bad he took that shitty vert angle, would like to see it from the side in full perspective..

Decent performance, but i'm using decent lightly. Is this video some kind of joke? I lost count watching your bench press, because I was just overcome by the lack of ab control during the lift. You should probably use a mouthpiece and breathe better towards the end but your diaphragm development is probably subpar. Did you jump off a platform in the SVJ video, we can't tell. Your movement is very subpar, my recommendation is impulse isometrics and? iso extremes + ARP/bikram yoga.

Good effort tho

wait for it...

...

46" at the 2005 combine.

forty-
six
inch
standing
vertical.
he's 6'1, so that means
near head-at-rim height (119")
from a standstill.

what the fuck.

who is gerald sensabaugh and where is his footage?

wow that is pathetic..

11. some sort of explosive arm swing exercise, could be hip dominant or not, ie plate swings, db swings, hang snatch, etc.

Would doing explosive dumbbell swings upwards consistently for a few weeks actually give a significant increase in vertical (1-2 inches)?

i'd have hands locked, ie, two hands on one dumbell or using a plate to swing.. if you don't have very powerful shoulders already, then yes it can help and give a few inches, who is to say how long though.. but arm swing is a very important part of any type of jumping, so by really getting those shoulders powerful, itll definitely have some carry over.. doing things like plate swings, double arm db swings, and snatches can all be very beneficial, though snatch variations are much more hip driven, that's why something like a plate swing can provide even more benefit for arm swing "from the bottom"..

really keeps those arms locked out and try to derive most of the power from the shoulders, i need to vid one day how i do it, i sit into it, arms locked grabbing the plate, and really try to swing up using ONLY shoulder power, but of course I use a little bit of hip also.

i would avoid db swings with one in each hand though, can get a little risky for the shoulders.

peace

adarqui dude when was the last time you heard of an elite level strongman, who? only used his own bodyweight? or an american football player who only used his bodyweight? everything requires its own specified training to reach certain goals, its not healthy being so closed minded!

@Mixs101 : herschel walker (nfl), marius zynvickes vonvickes (strongman) end of story. Imagine if you had the fortitude to do 1000 pushups and 1000 pullups a day, think you'd? need weights??? HELL NO.

So what do you think of that draw decision?

There seems to be an outcry from both sides. I would give rounds 1 and 2 to penn, and the 3rd to fitch, with round 2 being very close (I mean, fitch really didn't do anything when he ended up on top in the last 1.5 minutes of round 2), and I wouldn't be so fast to call round 3 a 10-8 for fitch.

i'd def go round 1 to penn, round 2 is basically even to me.. round 3 was 10-8 imo.

in the end, it's not the scoring of those 3 rounds that matters, it's that there was only three rounds in a main event mma fight.................... it's pathetic.. all main events should be 5 rounds..

now if it had gone 5 rounds, penn would have been gnp'd to death, no doubt about it..

i think fitch would beat penn in the rematch.. penn looks out of it mentally, to me.

i just wish it was a 5 rounder :(

i like fitch though, he's a really hard worker, he's boring as hell but i he puts in serious work and never quits.. fan.

Over the past few weeks, I've made it my daily goal to consume 8 whole eggs and 3oz of dark chocolate. I hit that goal about 5 days a week. I've had my suspicions about the ultra fast digesting whey proteins in the past (they're absorbed too fast; the body doesn't know what to do so it converts the proteins to sugar. Proteins don't do much good serving as sugar), and am forgoing having them now. I'm content with the slower digesting wheys and am even mixing them with even slower digesting casein containing cottage cheese post workout and...better sit down...even mixing in some fat. My post workout meal is more reminiscent of mother's milk (the stuff we were meant to grow on). Over the course of these past four weeks, I've been eating lower carbs in an effort to lose fat; muscle gain wasn't my current concern. I've added in the extra eggs, extra dark chocolate, and the change to the post workout meal (which is sometimes a breakfast, lunch, or pre workout meal, too). I've eaten less than maintenance, and gained muscle - while losing fat. I've never been more vascular.

Dumbell BSS FTW!

Man I loved those...These videos remind me of the old good times...you know, when I actually had two knees LOL!

I commented about how "close" your stance looked to me the first time I saw you doing barbell bss, but if you're more comfortable that way I guess it's fine ;)

^^ esav had a diesel BSS.

nice :) how much progress have you made?

you managed to do it yet adarq?

nope I got lazy with pmghr's.. I suck at them & it hits my hamstring tendons a bit too hard, so I just hit 45 degree hyper hard, now that I have access to one..

not sure, even with an insane running jump, my SVJ is still going to be WAAAAAAY lower.. picture stefan holm's SLRVJ vs his SVJ, really huge difference.. my SVJ would definitely be better than his 24, shit it already is lmao, but i don't see it improving to 35+" simply by getting those stats we mentioned.. i'd have to practice SVJ's a ton, which I hate... though, once i get to that level, i might suck it up and do that just so I can try to "master SVJ".

peace man!
true, i hate SVJ, just feels so akward. But ya man go get that 140. Do you have anytime time frame goal as to when you want to be down to that weight?

nah no time frame, the sooner the better.. even though my "genetics" prefer me to be very skinny/light, getting down to 140 is going to be hard from a diet sense (because i'm not putting in the type of cardio that has gotten me that low before, ie boxing/running/jump rope training).. I definitely have the fat to lose, which sounds insane but it's the truth haha, so diet is the #1 issue.. so far, cleaning up my diet the last few days and need to make a push to 145, that'll take about 4 weeks if I don't wimp out.

ya when I go to do an SVJ, I feel "empty", I just don't want to even do that style of jump.. people who don't mind SVJ'n or enjoy it, never understand what i'm talking about.. but ya it just feels very awkward and there's really no motivation for me to jump in that style.

I was watching you 11" jump video and I saw that when you jumped you did a butt kick then forced your legs back down. I watched a football player on YouTube jump to grab money of the ceiling a he did it twice in the air does that get you even more air. I tried practicing that. It doesn't come natural to me, but it looks like it helps a lot.

no!!!! :)

try not to think about that stuff.. if you watch elite dunkers/jumpers, they all have different jump/plant styles etc.. air up there for example, jumps nearly stiff legged as he's in the air (on his max jumps).. it definitely won't get you "more air", it just adds to the "illusion" of more air.. but if you think about stuff like that during maximal effort movements, it'll cause too much "interference" and cause your jumps to suffer.. so I wouldn't force it, that's for sure..

Cool observation...imma keep that in mind next time I jump off 2 legs.

good observation yes, useful no :F

we've had talks on this forum about it before, don't let stuff like that get in your head.. the only reason you would do that would be to make dunks "look better" etc...... from a stylistic standpoint.

I went grocery shopping and had some food, my legs feel so light right now it's ridiculous... they feel crazy strong.. only problem is the ham tendon very slight strain, that could cause me to push friday's dunk session to saturday, whack... hoping after i sleep though, that it'll be 100x better, stuff like that usually happens with me.

pC folks.

Yeah that's a good point. If I bend forward while doing the BSSs I load the quad anyway, so...

By the way - does anybody have any comments on my 1-2 jump squats in terms of loading/rebound speed etc?

i thought they looked good, i mean the speed wasn't "Bad" but it is kind of "bad for 30kg" considering you squat 130kg plus.. so that's where the speed is bad.. it's really not that bad though, you're moving what % of your actual 1RM? like 20%? should be a little faster and a bit more jump height at that % no doubt.. so just keep working on it & really focus on the transition + maximal acceleration.
