BTW ZGIN

leg drain is, legs propped up ~80 degrees, relaxed, while ur supine on the floor (on ur back), relaxing, pillow under head chillin`, for at least 10 minutes.. I do mine for 15-30 minutes while I irc/forum.. makes legs feel great, helps return pooled blood/inflam chemicals etc from the legs. it also reduces blood flow slightly and you get a little hypoxic environment going on, also good for recovery.

Boxing / Re: bernard hopkins vs jean pascal - HOPKINS GOT ROBBED
« on: December 20, 2010, 11:44:58 pm »
you can't get knocked down twice and expect to win bro.

actually, yes you can.. that's two 10-8 rounds, hopkins won pretty much every round besides those two.

I'm agreeing with you, that's the excuse of the homer's that said he tied...hopkins was last knocked down 1995, and he was last knocked down 1994..That's pretty good, especially since he is so old
Pascal wants a rematch, he wanted to win outright...that would be great!

he'd kill pascal in a rematch, pascal is completely shook.

much props to bernard, what a beast at 45, looked 20's in that fight.

there could be a rematch, one final rematch to end the career of hopkins maybe...He has got to give it up soon though 46 is SOOOO old in boxing, got to be feeling some affects

his brain is healthy, he doesn't take damage, he's a defensive genius.. I honestly think hopkins will retire soon with the ability to keep fighting for many more years, honestly, he's a specimen, I am so impressed.. I hope to be dunking 40"+ at his age, loool.

I think he will destroy pascal in the rematch, there's really no way pascal will recover from that kind of mindfucking he experienced.. He got completely dominated, and his conditioning will never be good enough to keep him in the fight from rounds 7+. Hopkins got him on lock.

landed lots of dunks, didn't get up like i thought though.. some really nice makes in there, peak jump was lower, but average height was pretty damn good.. avg height + coordination... gravel court, had to clean it with a towel, was slippery with little pebbles, towel helped bigtime.

if that net is 18" then that rim could be a bit high, dno though.. gonna just consider it 10' tho.

anyway here's some stills

it's pretty much the same spot, the 2nd pic and my pic, right before the concentric.. dno, it's obvious that his knees aren't way in front of his toes like mine, and he's in much more of a side plant.

i think i jumped insane high tonight, had so much anger in me, only 5 hours sleep but i was pissed at some of the call-em-out shit.

im tired of people claiming numbers with no proof to promote programs, shit bugs me, amped me up good though.. thanks scammers!

Nice. I've had that before.

Rage is pretty useful if you apply it in the right place. Next thing you know I'm gonna be going "HULK SMASH" right through hurdles when I'm having a bad day. haha. That would be hilarious.

hhahaha

hulk smash.. lol

like that asian dude in the vid..

man that crap still cracks me up.

bw = 152  :headbang:
soreness = calfs :<, no achilles tweaks today/tonight tho
aches/injuries = feel good, mid back feeling better, lower back feeling better.... drastic reduction in squat volume ftw
fatigue = low
diet = protein shake, burger + 3 bananas, training, protein shake + cookies, some peanubtutter + 2 slices of pizza

workout: recovery
- 7 mile traversed, alot of "sink walking"
- only a few maximal 20 yard sprints, because I felt "TOO FAST", did a bunch more at 90%, probably 8 total 90% or higher sprints, and a bunch more light sprints for warmup/cooldown etc.. glutes were almost cramping on warmups, they were highly activated.. calfs had insane bounce.

recovery #2: leg drain, 30 minutes
- feels so good, got to keep doing it EVERY night.

ok odd shit.. i felt insanely fast today.. like up there with the fastest i've ever felt.. i couldn't even decelerate quickly, had to coast, legs were just rebounding massively.. very odd..

i forgot to write last workout that i did a bunch of "sink walking", just something im calling it.. it hits the glutes a bit harder.. like i walk while sinking into my stance, trying to propel myself more with hip extension at the glute and less knee extension for each stride, kind like if i was walking with pants around the bottom of my ass about to fall down gangsta style.

anyway, did alot of that last night.. feels like more glute, stretches my calfs nicely, and takes less "strain" off the quads as i don't really extend fully like in a normal walk, but they are more stressed eccentrically as im sunk into my stance a bit..

anyway got to vid it so people know wtf im talking about, it's nothing miraculous, but for my long walks, it seems to be kind of interesting.. ive done it before way back when i was doing lots of walking, seems to always get my glutes more activated, calfs/ankles more flexible yet still powerful, and keeps my knees from aching towards the end of the walk.

hopefully tomorrow is dunking, hope calfs aren't as sore.

some of those had some nice depth.. funny thing is, start out pretty shitty, picked up around rep 4.. good considering all of the prior work.. i should be more fresh monday when i msem, going for 325+ most likely then a 20rep attempt finisher after the msem sets.

tested new rendering technique for my misc footage, thanks to damien, i think the footage actually came out great! looks really good compared to my AE raw-render of MSEM.. 3 hours vs 12 hours render time. :personal-record:

peace

you should have got the 10th rep!

i was toast :)

show me the x264encoder clip and i will figure it out... till then, use encode to another format > quickime > h264(x264) with the same settings as in my video (codec options chose CABAC) :highfive:

shit i forget.. ill try the x264 encode on my next misc vid tho.. the x264encoder clip is like 500Mb loool.

thanks again man, that clip came out really good, recent msem 315x9 clip.. mpegstreamclip is boss.

You should try a detox sometime. Maybe it'll help you drop weight. Some years ago my brother did some sort of one week detox. He didn't particularly enjoy it and the day he started eating hardy meals again he threw up a couple times, but it worked for him. At first he lost some weight, but afterward he packed on muscle faster than he had before. He's actually about 5 lbs. lighter than me. I have way too much leg muscle over him for his upper body to keep up with my weight, but before he moved out of the house he was over 160 I think, but he was ripped and still maintained super low bodyfat.

thanks for the advice man, ya i've never done a "detox", i've only changed my diet up radically a few times.. feels good temporarily..

With the combat knife around the neck for more badassitude.

yes, need to sharpen it more though.

Squats
[135,185,225 x6][275,325 x4][365x2][385,405 x1]

Jumps
- Depth Jumps 18" x2-4

* BW getting close to 194lbs in the morning. felt strong but the lifts were harder than usual. i had to start with 135lb today because im stiff. 4 day rest from heavy lifting is very good for recovery but it takes effort to get my legs ready again.
* almost got pinned with rep 4 of 325 paused warmup. lol 365x2 paused was not as bad.
* 405x1 a 8.5-9/10 lift. this is a good sign. the workout following a hard delaod is usually a PR. i did not push for a 405x1 workset because legs were just not firing right today. i would have gotten pinned at 405x3 and 405x2 would be hard.
* today should be a good warmup for tuesdays 405x4 4x4-6sets.

lol how u almost get pinned with 325?

The PR was kinda cool. I did my first set with 205, went down lower than normal, even for my 3x5's, so I decided I could do better. My last set with 210 was probably better than my first with 205. Bar just bounced on both reps. I love the sound of the plates clanking when I do that.  ;D

clanking sound is boss, i agree.. love that

I was in Mexico this summer. Yeah, the whole place is going down the gutter with the cartels. I visit a lot of people with my family while I'm there and not once was it not brought up for at least ten or fifteen minutes. Usually the topic went on for a couple hours. You hear about people just down the street being involved or having someone kidnapped or murdered. Despite all the violence people need to go on with their lives, and that's really what you see. If you just stood in downtown (I'm pretty sure for any city) for a few hours and looked at all the movement, you'd think everything was fine. One thing that actually happens a lot during transport, is the cartels will have a semi-truck block a road while shipment is turned on it. I got to witness that happening in some backroads leading to the tiny farming towns where I'm from. Blocked for about 20 minutes. No one bother honking or getting out of there cars. If I remember right there were police there too, driving with the cartels almost like escorts. I witnessed corruption first-hand. The place is a cesspool.

damn dude that is nuts.. it's even worse now i imagine.. the death toll lately has been worse than the death toll in iraq during the war, freaky.. hope your fam there stays safe.

peace man

a pic of the inside of the ankle.

what i dun understand is how the bruise got there. there isnt much flesh there, right above the round ankle bone, but the bruise is quite bad, and its painful to the touch.

swelling has gone down now, icing and massaging it. can walk now, but still no full rom without some pain at the ends.

if i feel better tmr, i'll go do an upper body workout.

damn, looks ALOT better.. well the bruising is from a 'tear' in something most likely.. probably not complete if you're walking again already, probably a small tear in some ligament/tendon etc.. looks like you'll be good man.

good news, keep icing! at least 1-2x/day.

That makes me think of construction workers and their muscles. They basically lift things every day, have a pretty big "rest" time in between "reps" and they are BIG.

besides the fact that they get in significant isometric, concentric, and eccentric training per day, their diet is usually very adequate in calories, as many of them drink a good amount of beer and eat a good amount of "junk". There's not many "vege" construction workers, or ectomorphs for that matter, those people are usually pretty tough (meso, which the job pretty much requires) and eat big.

It's the same reason you don't usually see NFL types in the nba, the nature of the "job" dictates who works there.

peace

Yeah exactly. That's why o-lifters are short as well. They're not short because they haven't grown anymore since they lift a lot and all that crap, but they are short because that body structure is efficient for that sport and short o-lifters are better than tall o-lifters so you see more short o-lifters at the elite levels since they are advantaged.

And I liked that astronaut example a lot. I was preparing to reply with that but you took it before me. :strong:

LIKE USUAL, I WIN, U LOSE..

jk

good point btw, imagine kevin durant going into a gym with dreams to be an 'olympic lifter', aint happenin`..

the same point can be made for, "OMG BRO, THOSE OLY LIFTERS, THEY ALL JUMP SO HIGH CAUSE OF OLY LIFTING", and here we are looking at elite oly lifter data.... well, oly lifting and improving strength does help their jumping, but those guys have great leverages for strength and are already good at producing great amounts of force very fast, thus the reason why they are oly lifters.

what came first, the chicken, the egg, or my peanutbutter burrito.

we will never know.

I would never use the bands for isotonic training, but with isometrics, they are a pretty great activation exercise. Maybe good for recovery days too?

bands only could possibly be good for recovery, since the weakest joint angles will experience less stress.

Quote
I remember once I almost bought athletes acceleration, which uses the bands for isometrics, and I definitely noticed an increase in speed, because the bounce back from the bands tells your CNS that you are faster.

it could all be very perceptual btw.. for example, people who wear 20lb vests, jump, take off vest, jump, feel like they are flying, yet they are actually getting lower because their CNS is temporarily fubar'd.

so ya, going off feel can be distorted, not saying it was in your case, but it's something to think about.

another example would be the people who do ISO EXTREMEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ *ONLY* PROTOCOLS and "feel faster" sprinting, yet, they actually get slower and unathletic.

Quote
I think it could have potential to increase ractivity, lower ground contact times without damaging the joints.

??? not sure what you mean?

one of the worst ways though, to prepare the 'joints', is to become very unspecific.. you see this in people who practice on hardwood courts for example, then go out and ball hard one day on concrete, and end up getting raped.. body adapts to surface type, so, not sure why i mentioned that but i felt like mentioning it.. lolz

Quote
I've been using the swiss balls for isometrics and I usually feel like I'm on a cloud after.
For example. you could push back against the ball, which is against the wall, with your foot, to target quads/glutes/achilles. You should feel pretty fast after. What that big dude did with the glutes and bands is a good example, except isometrics.

Edit: and man! I love chicks with meaty legs, I actually want to eat them. HAHa jk...

lol wut, sicko.. dno if that's still considered RAW, probably is.

;d
