Why don't you try to go ATG?

I did really deep squats yesterday and I have VMO soreness for the first time ever in years.

Isn't doing that outside the rack just a tad "too dangerous"? :P

I know you do it for "added stimulus" but is it worth it?

Haha, I had to zoom in the picture to see it. I was looking exclusively at the tree though but still...

Anyway

He should film it. In the past I used to do SVJ using my quads (staying with my back pretty straight vertical) and my SVJ wasn't that high. Then I thought about jumping using my hips so I started to push the hips back and also let the chest drop forward and down, and then I jumped much higher.

You'd expect to choose your best form automatically but in my case I had to experiment to find it. Since my quads suck anyway I could get higher using a posterior-chain dominated form on my SVJs.

So he might want to play around with that.

Isn't TVS dead now?

Yeah I've had a friend who had knee issues that was like "hey I don't want to squat, my knee will hurt, so I'm thinking of buying a weight vest and doing plyos with it".

Go figure.

Proven undeniable FACT!

Not a dunk but VC jumping for a block... wasn't a maximal jump either.

WTF, at that low weight? Maybe the bench you're using has no cushioning...

Anyway, what kind of soreness did you feel immediately after doing them? If it felt in the lowerback then you're not keeping the lowerback pressed and neutral (if you have anterior pelvic tilt you might find actually using the glutes during the hip thrust a hard thing to do).

3373
Damn, the paused leg press calf raises were that bad in terms of generating soreness? Or was it that + the basketball game?

I read somewhere that after 47 minutes the cortisol level starts to build up pretty fast so...

source? sounds dubiously specific.

That's correct. "Dubiously" is the right way of describing that number. Who knows what the reality is? It definitely depends on the person but...
