i'm confused at the 3 FT's for Ibaka.. i mean the foul happened well after his 3 point shot. seems more like a loose ball foul at that point.

that's a weird call in general.

that should be 3 FT's for Lebron... ridiculous. I mean I don't like what he did, but it was a deliberate foul that Lebron smoked out & got into shooting form at half court. solid move by him.

weak reffing again.

Korver really has been lighting it up in the playoffs, he's stepped up pretty consistently.

He's had a few really long 2's as well. Could be a bit closer.

nice data & discussion!

Definitely can see HR's being up near that high (160+ for sure) during a competitive game (while you're in it).

From my experience in basketball, I was much less aerobically developed than I was lactic threshold developed. I mean I could go hard in bursts for from a few seconds to say 60s, over and over, but I can't imagine I would have been good at running a solid pace for a decent amount of time. I was adapted to start-stop-repeat. Working on their aerobic base might help get the HR's down a bit & make them more efficient, but it comes at the cost of skill work etc. Could help to build it up more in the off season. In-season it would be hard to maintain, for sure. If I go a week without long run work, my HR starts going back up, which is probably good tbh - having it "chronically" low can bring its' own problems.

The key to this kind of data to me points to the lack of sustained aerobic long running. Add to that the idea that it's a contact sport with more adrenaline surges, HR is going to be high. If you're not highly aerobically trained, HR has to be high in order to pump all of that blood around, just don't have the efficiency of doing so at lower HR's like a highly aerobically trained athlete is.

Also, when I was intense basketball dribbling a month ago or so, my HR was very low. I had to work incredibly hard to get it into the 130's. It was mostly 10X-12X. I'd love to know how that would differ (if at all) to when I was actually basketball trained, ie if it is considerably lower now due to how i've been training.

Oh also #2: jumping gets your HR way up, very fast. So going up for rebounds, layups, shots etc, really causes the HR to shoot up very quick based on what i've seen from my own HR data when I was jumping with my HRM.

my quick 2cents.

peace!

maybe the danger of D'n up Lebron so hard, is that it'll get his teammates back into the rhythm of making shots/plays. HEH.

they are knocking down everything right now.

turning out to be a great game.

and now a T on Van Vleet wtf? Yet Lebron pushed him? wtf?

HORRIBLE reffing. NBA is such a joke sometimes.

Oh ok not a T.. but foul is still garbage.

Love how they are D'n up Lebron (full court etc). Doesn't seem to be phasing him much so far, but he's definitely working to get free etc. Could catch up with him later.

Lebron is carrying the team again though.

After all that, i'm on the fence whether or not I want to see him beat Toronto.. I def wanted Indiana to beat the Cavs, but not so sure about Toronto.. Lebron is such a monster. I think maybe i'll be rooting for him still, but i'll be rooting for TOR to take the series. Just not sure how Lebron can carry CLE for another 7 games like that.

Ya Lebron has just been bugging me lately. Always saw him as someone who could make his teammates better. But the last few seasons he's just been slowly showing me a different side. More of a selfish, disloyal, disrespectful side. It's going to be hard for me to stop being a Lebron fan, but he just seems much more selfish the last few years. I think you see it in the reactions from his teammates: Kyrie, Love, Isaiah, even D-Wade. I heard D-Wade was having problems there.

One of the gifts of MJ (Magic and Michael), was their ability to make *anyone* better. Michael was more like Lebron, he could be lethal to his teammates, but I don't think he ever lost their respect. I mean the rumor is, MJ punched Kerr at practice, stuff like that.. But when it came down to it, season after season, he always found a way to keep his team strong & focused.

Lebron seemed to have those qualities to me .. but as he's getting older, it seems he's losing that a bit. Seems like he just expects it to be easier than it should be, and since it isn't, he is not able to cope/handle it like he used too when he was younger and extremely driven.

On the flipside, D-Wade comes back to Miami and gets everyone united, focused, strong, ready for battle.

Alot of people hate Lebron for various reasons, but regardless, I think he's had a slow attitude shift for the last 2 years now. Maybe GSW rattled him. I think he knows GSW will be hard to beat in the finals, and he just can't handle it.
