any kind of official competition! If you have one planned/coming up, post it here so people know what's on the map.

Great Idea for a thread. Love it. It can be any type of competition weightlifting, bodybuilding competition  :P or basketball.
Warm up drills
   - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
   - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up
-------------------------------------------------------------
Measuring reminder:
5 toe to heel steps = 148cm
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strength comes from the legs, Power comes from the torso and Speed comes from the arm. Al Vermeil
Arm also aids the legs in driving it down with power - seifullaah73

yup! exactly. this thread promotes more official competition, whatever that may be, and also encourages us to list out our future competitions in one spot so that we can more easily put someone's training into context -> if they have a competition listed here. It's easy for someone to list a future competition in their journal and then it disappears into the "previous pages ether". But if we post that stuff here as well, much easier to find.

peace!

Harbour Club Serpentine Last Friday of the Month 5k -> 26th Jan, i.e. next Friday.

If I like it + the organisation, etc., I might try to run it monthly rather than doing Parkruns, since this is more convenient and on a nicer course.

I think that's it for now. Need to build up more fitness before I'll feel like I'm actually racing at 10k or longer.

Also put your results in here too when you do the competition. Maybe quoting the competition you did.

Just updated my original race schedule post. Added another half marathon on February 18, which I won't take "as seriously" -> using it as a learning experience for the Coral Springs Half Marathon, which I want to place top 3 in. Started picturing myself training for Coral Springs so much, then just having a crap race because of something simple I overlooked (like not drinking water at a stop, or having some energy gel or something), who knows. So, going to try and figure that stuff out in that Publix A1A half.

:D

How did I forget to bump this with the A1A half? fail!

well that turned out great.. smart move to get a half in before the half I really care about.

Tropical 5k -> January 27, 2018
- 18:54, 13th OA

Publix A1A Half Marathon -> February 18, 2018
- 1:27:11, 25th OA

Superhero 5k -> March 3, 2018
Run for the kids 10k -> March 10,2018

Coral Springs Half Marathon -> March 24, 2018

That's what i'm focusing on!

just edited my OP, added a 5k & 10k - don't care style!

the fun thing is, i'm going to turn both of those into long runs:
1. 5k whatever + hilly long run
2. 10k hard + 10k mod (doubling back on the course lol!)
- runlikeagirl signed up and will attempt this with me. it's more of a half marathon training run -> practicing starting hard then being able to try and hold on to a solid moderate pace.

cool.
