Australia started off their campaign with a win against Canada winning 108-92

USA are the favourites to win as usual.

Turkey came close to beating the USA recently.

Australia played nicely against Lithuania yesterday and play France next. France have 5 NBA players and will be a tough team to beat.

Australia now 4-0 and play France next. Win against France and Australia progress through to the final 8. The world cup stared off with 32 teams. Amazingly Turkey didn't even make it to the final 16 after their epic performance against USA.

I'm looking forward to watching the Greek Freak play against USA soon.

Australia beat France in an extremely close game 100-98.

This was a huge game for Australia as the loser had to play the USA in the quarter final. Nobody ever wants to play the number 1 team in the world, particularly in a quarter final.

As far as the quarter finals go they are still in progress. Argentina pulled off a massive upset by beating Serbia who were predicted to be the 2nd strongest team behind the USA.

France is currently playing against the USA in the quarter final. Australia is up against the Czech Republic.

France is no pushover, and this version of Team USA is one of the weakest ever assembled, but any team that scores just five points in the last eight minutes of a game while surrendering 22 is a team that should be embarrassed.

The USA loss was a huge upset. Regardless of the squad the USA has they are always the favourites and deservedly so.

Tim Dahlberg (AP)

“USA Basketball’s plan for a third consecutive World Cup title started going off the rails long before this tournament even began, after just about everyone who was originally asked to play for this team turned down the opportunity. As such, this outcome was not exactly unexpected,” Dahlberg wrote.

“The better team won. But the best team was at home. Of the 35 players originally picked last year by USA Basketball for its roster pool this summer, four made it to China. The group that ultimately got assembled for this mission was a bunch of guys not even on the radar screens when this selection process began, a group that decided playing with and against really good players all summer — while getting coached by Gregg Popovich — was worth giving up nearly two months of an off-season. They played hard. But there’s no medal for playing hard.”

I wonder what sort of line up the USA will bring to the Olympics next year?

Australia defeated the Czech Republic 82-70 to advance to the next game against Spain in the Semi Finals.

the teams that beat usa were just more prepared and the tougher teams wow. what a turning point but it happens when other teams are prepared like this seems like
33yrs | 24in SVJ | >45% BF | 227LB | 5'9 | 7'5 reach | 400lb max squat paused | 5'8 wingspan | 26in RVJ

Coming back from 2 years of inactivity!

Goal: Maintain 385-405lb squat while cutting down to 165 LB

^^^Not really. I think that is is not a coincidence that neither France or Serbia reached the final.
It is as simple as that, this USA was a mediocre and unbalanced team, big pity for Popovic, he deserved a real 1st class team USA roster.

A lot of articles were saying the USA pretty much sent their C grade team.

Australia was winning by 10 points at one stage against Spain in the Semi Finals. Ended up losing to Spain in double overtime and then lost the Bronze medal game to France to finish the tournament in 4th, which is a disappointing result.

Bogut wasn't happy :trolldance:
