meant to run last night but started to get a headache on the drive home and it became crippling. went to bed at 9:30 and slept for 10 hours instead. head still hurts a bit this morning. but not a migraine. weird.

there's a benard langat on iaaf who is a 5k runner with a 14:30 PR set in 2017, but he was born in 2000. doubtful that he ran that at age 10!

trump is a con artist who was set up by his cunning but amoral slum lord of a father and then repeatedly bailed out by the man for most of his life. not a great example of "how to get rich" even if you're already rich.

not strictly training related but this is so cool: https://www.sciencenews.org/article/stimulating-spinal-cord-helps-more-paralyzed-people-walk

Quote
Paralysis is becoming less permanent — at least for some.

There’s now more evidence that stimulating the spinal cord can restore voluntary movement in paralyzed patients who haven’t recovered after other treatments. After five months of training coupled with targeted stimulation of nerve cells in the spinal cord, three people who had a severe spinal cord injury regained the ability to walk with varying degrees of support, researchers report online October 31 in Nature.

incidentally my mom used to edit that publication, science news, when i was in high school.

- run 10.04 km in 50:55

- SMR

- stretch

quads a bit sore but exactly the same average pace as yesterday. wearing long sleeves is great because it means i can't glance at my watch without taking the extra step of pulling my cuff back.

i still think you should enter a PL comp. don't even try to really max, just do it one day instead of regular training. would be really interesting to see how much you can DL with no practice but a big squat and lots of back work.
