Just stretching.

15 May 2010
"7 Days Vertical Jump Cure" routine.
My usual lower body stretch routine.

Right hip flexor bugging me lately. I dont know if its too tight or too weak. I guess too tight , because the hip flexor raises with the 3 sec pause on top are way too easy and i dont feel it bugging doing them. I do feel it bugging when i stretch though. Anyway , nothing too much , barely feeling it. Will try to stretch hip flexors more often for a while and see what happens.
DOMS : quads just a bit , glutes and calves a lot more. I cant go run or jump as i planned with so sore glutes and calves , but im very happy that i managed to hit them so hard! :D

as for the hip flexor, stretch it out NICE AND EZ after your bball/lifting sessions.. if you want to stretch it before, use a loaded stretch like a lunge hold for 30s, a few sets..

cool about the glutes, bss killed them huh.

peace!

whoops my, b. Anyway the the study found that hamstring power output increased, man I wish I had the full text though, read the abstract people!

definitely would like to see the full text, to get a look at the training.. someone i know may be able to access it, when he's online ill give him the url and when he goes to uni maybe he can check it out for us.

Cool study right http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1324116?dopt=AbstractPlus

Increased insulin sensitivity? That's a plus!

I found that on this site
http://www.exrx.net/Notes/ExerciseAbstracts.html, lot of great info there

I could try to figure it out but I'm a bit lazy but how do I add a hyperlink within a word, like if I wanted to link the word "here", I'm having trouble on this forum and it's different than I'm used to on others?

ya nice study, too bad most people go in doors (heated) to train in cold weather. My favorite type of weather to train in, is very hot and very humid, don't know why, but i just love it.. I seem to lose weight very fast in this weather too, not just water.

I wouldn't link with the word, just drop the whole link, there seems to be a problem of how it's linking those abstracts, its bracketing the wrong part.

I love abstracts :)

I prefer walking lunges over bss, but both are good.

Mate you are not the only one who thinks this. I am with you all the way. I love unleashing the walking lunges. Have you tried them up hill yet?

Jack

I have yet to try it, i'd have to goto a parking garage to do it, no hills in florida :) Parking garages are monitored by security etc, so i'm screwed there. If I was still at MSC I definitely would incorporate uphill lunges and uphill bounds, they had the perfect parking garage ramp for it.

hey darqman, because ill only be doing my UB circuit 1/2 a week, do you think ill be able to add anathor chest exercise (inlcine db press/ pushups/ oxplosive pushups) and another shoulder exercise (lateral raises/ upright row)? without creating a back imbalance, i cold just add sets of 2/3/4 after my complexes as "finisher" exersices....

ya but why not still hit an upper back exercise to even it out? it's not a pull but it's still protective, do rear delt fly.

So, go say incline db press, rear delt fly, lateral raise, ie a triple-superset.

:)

Have cops gone mad lately down there at FL , or what?

i know man, it's odd right? im getting stopped quite a bit now.. thats what 4 times in 2 months now.. that's alot to be honest.

i think it has something to do with my 'alpha' increasing, i am pretty menacing when im training now, really intense/focused..

my alpha is 2 much for da po po.

crazy shit check below..

afternoon workout:
- 30 rounds on the heavybag, mostly light but with speed working on technique etc
- first 15 rounds : mixing up combos / jabs /etc, normal
- second 15 rounds: all jabs, orthodox and southpaw, 150-200 jabs per round just pumping out jabs orthodox then switching stance and pumping out jabs southpaw

late night workout:

CHECK THIS SHIT OUT LOOLOLOL

so im doing my interval sprints, ive already run like 10 sprints.. so im walking up to this marker im going to use as a start, and bam i take off, about 350-400m sprint is the goal, im like 30m from finish and this cop car is doing a U turn mad quick and pulls into the grass and puts his lights on so i slow down etc..

cop: "SIT DOWN!!!!!"

me: "god damn motherfucking shit man can't i stand up i just sprint like 400m" (out of breathe for all of my comments)

cop: "SIT DOWN NOW!!!!!!!!!!!"

me: sits down, "god damn man im just working out"

cop: calls for backup, "why did you run from me?"

me: "what? what do you mean?"

cop: "I was trying to flag you down from behind and you took off"

me: "i had my earphones in man i had no idea you were behind me"

cop: "put your hands behind your head"

me: "ah man what the fuck"

cop: "whats your name , what do you do ...." all that b.s

me: tells him ...

cop: "why are you in all black?"

me: "who cares man, im just training"

cop: "you look like a criminal"

me: "what the fuck man im just training, i wear black to stand out less around all the gang kids driving by etc"

other cops arrive etc.. ask me shit

cop: "ok man stand up do u have any weapons, i need to pat you down"

me: "no"

cop: pats me down, "ok well now i know you so i wont be as interested in stopping you"

...

then i dipped loololol

fucking sucked i got all tight from sitting down like that.

interval sprints:
- about 5 miles worth, max V

walk:
- hamstrings were dead, so i walked about 5 miles

neutral grip pullups:

yeaa shows you how far just  raw strength and power can take you

ya, in mma, not boxing :) in boxing, brute strength gets you nowhere, that's what i love about boxing, so much skills at the top level.
