welcome back, and nice ride. it's funny, i'm almost 30 years old and have never owned a car. didn't need one in college and certainly don't need one in DC.

might look into getting one in pakistan, although i'd have to learn to drive on the other side of the road.  :-X

the best posture is a changing posture. don't worry so much about sitting ramrod straight, worry more about moving around. squirming is better than trying to hold yourself unnaturally erect.

Really? I've never heard this before. I like sitting straight because it's difficult to maintain so it requires you to always be in the moment to some extent and reinforces the hip hinge movement pattern cause the lower back is locked. Honestly the best solution would be to always stand but I'm not quite that much of a deviant...

Quote
A good posture is probably “dynamic,” emphasizing change and movement. Keeping active, frequently changing our posture, and experimenting with new ways of moving through the world are probably good responses to the uncertainties of posture. It’s the same in spirit as the nutritional advice to eat a varied diet.38

Most people lead overly sedentary lives, and are overly consistent in their limited physical activity; that is, even people active at work are often active in only one way, and they need variety in their movement. More movement — not any particular position, but more positions — is definitely a safe bet and a good start on a good posture.

A variety of postural behaviours will also help to strike a balance between the path of least resistance and obsessive and excessive effort, neither lazy nor overzealous. Do not stray too far from your comfort zone, but do not linger there either.

on a canoeing trip in southern virginia, kind of in the middle of nowhere, got up early and had to take a piss, failed to put on shoes before walking away from campsite, kicked tent stake by accident. goodbye, front of toe.

always wear shoes when you're in the middle of nowhere.

Sometimes we outsmart ourselves as athletes.  No coach is always right.  But if a coach is 90% right that's exceptional.  If so just follow the coach and stop wasting your cns trying to figure out what he has you doing that isn't perfect for your goals.  Listen.  Follow.  Obey.  Develop.  The lack of stress you get by letting a coach design your workout and just following is worth a lot in itself.

this shit hurts so fucking bad.. HEH.

 :raging:

i had to have surgery on my left big toe in high school because i lost the nail after ripping a chunk off the front, and when the nail grew back it got super infected and produced a huge amount of scar tissue. it was gnarly.

- warm up

- work out with dad x 60 mins
really pushed him today for the first time, proud of him. we decided to set a baseline for him of lunges in 10 minutes. he got 133. was gassed at the end, but recovered enough that we could do some pressing and inverted rows. got in a few RVJ from various distances, as well.

- stretch
