Would it make sense to you if I were to squat 2 times per week and one time go with full squats and the other go with heavier partials for more specificity, like half squats or 1/4 squats?

Yeah well despite how good/bad intentioned or with great/poor knowledge someone is, it's still your choice as an athlete to listen or not to listen to that particular guy or group of people. So when you think about it, the merit is still a very high % to the athlete for putting in the work and making the right decisions.

Well I think there are two important reasons why one should squat for a higher VJ:

1) To build muscle that will generate tension for greater power. To do this, the best way is probably a deep squat and coupling phase time, specificity and things like these aren't that important.

2) To overload a muscle with "some weight" in a specific manner to the jump itself with a smaller ROM, more attention being paid at the coupling time and joint angles.

Now, I don't know if 2) is needed. It's probably needed just because the plyos damage the body so much if they are done endlessly, so then the 2) part is probably a good compromise. Otherwise, plyos are the way to go in my opinion.

Well they might, but why only in the 1st ever session and NEVER EVER after? Maybe just because I laid off some time away from any strength train, so soreness will be regardless the "first time" in quite a while you squat again. But whatever, the VMO was so much stimulated... while the vastus lateralis barely had any soreness.

So this is some kind of minus-7 level training - how not to get stimulated "oh shit, if I jump high I'll hit my head. OK, I'll jump lower!".

Apparently, Andrew is not a cop. Shocking, I know.

When I first started doing low bar squats, the first thing I have witnessed was GREAT vastus medialis recruitment. That only happened in that first session and never happened again. I have no idea what this means.

7077
Would you say he'd choose the box squat because he doesn't know HOW to increase one's VJ, or because he's a strength addict, or both? (and please, no politically correct things like "well he knows how (because I talk with him and he's my buddy) but he doesn't want to etc). HONESTY! (I shouldn't worry about that though, you've always been honest so... :P)

If there's anything I ain't, then I ain't an adarqui hater... I couldn't ever be. But again, 1 inch from that camera distance and angle is much more there. If there would've been a one inch distance, then from this angle it would seem his head hit the backboard. It's interesting since Andrew is pretty tough on his jumping in terms of inch-inflation, so it's somewhat surprising, which means he really genuinely believes it's 1 inch. One inch it's two squares on a math paper.

Well there's nothing to appreciate, really, I was just speaking my mind like I always do. If you were to suck in my mind, then I would've said that... But since you don't, then it's great. There are so few good people to talk about training you can just count them in single digits. You're one of them, although maybe your biggest flaw is you take things personally too quick, just as an observation :P

It's great not to be politically correct these days :D

Yeah great addition, I was waiting for this to happen for quite some time. :highfive:
