bw = 154
soreness = calves alot (right especially), quads moderate
aches/injuries = big toe blister drained out completely

set my alarm for 8 AM, but slept in until 11 AM :/ really needed it though .. absolutely dead today. Also took a 2 hour nap from 4 PM - 6 PM.

evening walk:
- ~2 hours
- 8.4 miles in 2 hours
- calves so tight early on, eased up a bit throughout

did a ton of soleus stretching last night and today .. feels so good when i'm doing it and definitely loosens up my soleus, but also makes them more sore as time goes by.

right soleus is WAY tighter than left.

ps: watching federer / tiafoe, awesome match. 40/40 5/3 5th set for federer at the time of this post :D

Well my rugby league season is now officially over. Unfortunately we ended up boycotting the Grand Final, which I was going to play in as my ribs are now recovered (You can see me wearing the Green boots). We boycotted the Grand Final as a result of corruption by the head organisation and we were just sick of their bullshit and undemocratic ways that they run the comp. Unfortunately the media twisted the story and tried to make as out like thugs who were upset about suspensions, which were only the tip of the iceberg.

At this stage the NRL are launching an investigation but it's not looking good for the club. They might kick our senior teams out the comp next year and suspend everyone for a year. But at least we stuck it up to the man on the day :headbang:

that's pretty nuts. takes some balls to do something like that, so good on you & your club.

that footage of your club at the end looked a little nuts though!! lmfao.

also, I don't have facebook embed on here. I rarely even know how to link facebook videos. I'll check into it though, could be a simple module.

peace!

the first (especially) & last photo look pretty intense. couples bonus points for stuff like that.

initially it could be pretty clumsy & hilarious I imagine, but after both parties improve, that kind of stuff looks like it would end in some vigorous sex. lmao.

Cold showers are the shit. I take one every day, sometimes up to 3x a day. Dunno about effects on T but it's a good controlled way to work on your willpower and get accustomed to forcing yourself to deal with discomfort.

 :highfive:

nice, I do the same, but following a very hot shower. So, really hot for a while, then adjust it to really cold and enjoy that for a few minutes.

tons of contrast shower studies improving recovery and even potential hormonal benefits iirc, but from my experience I just enjoy the transition from scolding to freezing. hah

a straight up cold shower from the start is pretty brutal.

morning:

- warm up

- jump rope continuously x 10 mins

went to bed early last night and got up early this morning. meant to do more but (1) i'm not coordinated enough in the morning to do double unders, apparently; (2) got a work call while i was warming up that cut into the time i had.

i like morning work outs, even if it's just a warm up like this. moar.

nice!

i was actually planning on doing some jump rope tomorrow evening, motivation.

Yeah morning workouts are weird. I remember waking up, showering and immediately going for a 30 min jog and just feeling like I was dying despite pretty easy pace.

I've experienced the same thing. Even if i'm actually running good, it feels horrible compared to at night.

I think it takes a little bit of time for your body to get into efficient fuel burning. Glycogen converted into fat overnight or somehow unavailable for immediate use the next morning? One of my buddies who's a bodybuilding trainer told me not to hit the protein in the morning because the body can't process it very well but to focus on carbs and then protein load later on. It would make sense if cells need to be carbed up to process protein or something..

Anyway morning workouts are cool. Start the day off strong and it frequently becomes productive all the way through.

dno not sure about that, but watermelon (sugar+water) an hour or so before an important session seems to really help me in the morning. Last year when I was doing all of those races, I was waking up consistently early, 99% of the time I felt like crap. Races would get me amp'd up more and i'd feel better for those, generally. Morning w/o's are definitely rough for me.

i've been trying to wakeup at 7 AM for like 3 weeks now.............. complete failure.

28-08-17

Morning BW: 78.5kg

Rest day today. [lol nvm]

Workout

Breathing ladder (i.e. only breath through nose, break between sets is time it takes to make equal number of nose breaths to the reps done]

Kettlebell swing @ 16kg for 1-20-1 - 39:30

Benchmark set. Will get better control of breathing + also need kinda stronger p-chain, or p-chain endurance, for this. 400 total reps.

so if you did one rep, you do one "big" breathe through your nose & exhale through nose, then go on to two reps, .. until 20, and back down?

sounds intense.

So this season's training moto will be.... "quantity over quality" !!!  :o :o :o
Now as you all know this is an obvious lie from my side. There is no way i would compromise quality. What i really mean is that it is consistency i need to hit. I can AREG volume, intensity frequency etc without even writing them down. It is not the programming that holds me back, it is the consistency. I want to try and work out every single day i can. Not all weights, i want to substitute my off days with cardio/abs/stretching sessions.  Also, most important, minimize the losses when work&life attacks. Try to save whatever i can. I am at a very good place now, somewhat strong, somewhat lean, definitely fresh. A great base to build on. If this works as planned i could achieve good things. No promises, but that's the plan.

awesome post, especially the part about minimizing losses when work/life attacks, that's always been the hardest thing for me. looking forward to more workouts :D I love doing something every day, even if it's just walking. Though, I don't like being "addicted". So having to workout HARD every day is something I definitely don't enjoy anymore - light days feel great. When I was lifting for dunking, I loved doing something every day too, even if it was just plate swings/bodyweight, walking, light sprints, or one work up set of squats.

get it!!

peace!
