too fast (4:38 average including a sub-race-pace kick over the last 3-400m), almost like extensive tempo except it didn't feel hard. arch of right foot present at beginning of run but just that, and it went away.

- stretch

why not start with something like couch to 5k, where you intersperse walking with jogging at first?

also, dry needling is wild. my n=1 is that it is extremely effective at resolving referred pain. wish i'd thought of it last fall when i was getting those posture headaches (like i did the other day). something to seek out whenever the lockdown is over. no idea how it'd work for something as severe as what you have, or why the PT thinks it'd help fix your achilles, but i guess he's prescribing it for a reason.

i may be catastrophizing because of the stress caused by isolation. but we are on the ropes.

windy but not unpleasant.

compounding covid-19 isolation and stress, my relationship appears to be in the process of ending.

that's good re: your dad.

my brother just moved to new orleans in january. louisiana is deteriorating fast, so that's a bit worrisome. he's doing fine, healthy so far, but one of his roommates is a doctor so there is a really good chance he'll get exposed or has been already. just talked with him this afternoon, actually. he said the roommate told him he'd never seen anyone as sick as covid patients. organ failure all over the place, apparently it wrecks your kidneys among other things.

perfect pace average, although i was all over the place given the stiff wind.

had a headache all day yesterday that became severe in the mid-afternoon. spent a while lying down, took some ibuprofen, just kept getting worse. finally i got up and shaved and it went away just like that. note to self: next time you get a bad headache, try hot water on your face.

i feel great today, will run and do push ups (and maybe pull-ups, depending on if i can get the bar set up).

appallingly late. good luck adarq. seems like you've been sequestering yourself anyway, which is good. hope your dad's okay.

trump's about to have the blood of hundreds of thousands or millions on his hands. same goes for anyone who has the power to remove him from office (the cabinet, senate republicans, a secret service agent who's just taken intro to philosophy and is pondering the trolley problem...).

Donald J. Trump
The LameStream Media is the dominant force in trying to get me to keep our Country closed as long as possible in the hope that it will be detrimental to my election success. The real people want to get back to work ASAP.  We will be stronger than ever before!

i'm just hoping a secret service guy will snap and put him out of his misery.

trying 100 pushup challenge on for size. let's see if i actually stick with it this time. meant to start 20 pull up challenge too but my pull up bar turns out to be broken. i think i fixed it but i'll wait for the glue to set before i put it up.

as of this morning there are 61 confirmed cases in my borough, and at least in my immediate neighborhood the lockdown really seems to have taken effect. there was almost no one on the street last night when i went out to the grocery store. all shops shuttered, even the romanian barbershop that the night before had been, as usual, full of men who look like extras from john wick. the park i ran through earlier in the day was sparsely populated: individuals, couples, and parents with young kids, and people were keeping lots of distance, as in a hundred feet or more. same number of joggers and bikers as usual but almost everyone was swerving widely to give space when they went around or past each other.

hope we do see the payoff in a couple of weeks, with a curve that looks more like south korea and less like italy. at the moment, cases in the UK are still growing exponentially.

just noticed that spain and italy have nearly 10% death rates. china is under 4%, france a bit over that. germany and most other european countries way under 1%. USA and UK right around 1%. iran over 7% but you'd expect that from a poorer country that's been suffering from decades-long sanctions.

wonder what the rates will look like when it's all said and done but that is scary.

(edited to add france)
