Boxing / donaire and carl froch fights
« on: June 01, 2014, 04:48:54 pm »
It was a good night of boxing, I definitely enjoyed the carl froch vs george groves fight more, it was tactical, entertaining and to shut up the doubters, he ended it with a hellacious right hand, which before george groves started to pick up the pace and then got caught.

the donaire fight was ok, the first round headbut, which was nasty, which i don't like those type of boxers, who headbut, next time donaire should not get close, the following rounds, his cut was always attacked. until on the fourth round simpiwe became aggressive after seeing the blood, got careless and tasted donaire's power, what a ko punch in a remarkable fashion. After donaire's loss to rigondiux (if thats how you spell it) he has added cautiousness to his gameplan and yet still has the power and fire. i hope he gets a fight where he shows his true ability.

Boxing / mayweather vs maidana (good night of boxing)
« on: May 05, 2014, 06:30:45 am »
Wow what a night of boxing, it was the second full ppv I ever watch instead of skipping to the good matches, both ppv being floyd main event.

Khan was good but didn't like the dirty tactics as I feel he can do better, but maybe it was his style, but he had powerful fast shots but will have to work with the endurance.

floyd vs maidana, exciting starting rounds, the crowd was crazy, maidana was able to get to him against the ropes, or did floyd allow it, but maidana was good he did a lot of body shots, i can't believe all that didn't have any affect on floyd, what is he made of.

but mayweather was also giving back, fast shots, counter, body shots, he still has the speed and don't know if he got hurt or he let it. but it was a close call but maybe because most of maidanas shot landed but a lot got blocked, never got connected to the head much.

it was hard to score but i had it close to 114 113 to floyd, rematch won't do much, but will be more popular than the first, but i don't think he will give him rematch like against dela hoya, which i saw he won, but thats my opinion.

good exciting fight.

Basketball / mayweather interested in buying la clippers
« on: April 30, 2014, 08:47:26 am »
There has been some news after the racist rant by sterling.

Floyd Mayweather's rumoured LA Clippers move is the talk of Las Vegas
The NBA franchise, whose owner has been banned for life for racist comments, would be a good fit for the boxer and the gossip sites are suggesting the deal could be for real

It could be a smart business move by mayweather.

400m Sprinting or Shorter / yohan blake weight training session
« on: March 28, 2014, 02:34:17 pm »
A video of blakes low intensity weight lift, i would love to see the machine in 1:27 of the video in my gym, it seems very useful

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MpCX3WSyzE

And they say they don't have much facilities, I would love my gym to have those facilities, modern day gyms are mostly bench press and power racks and dumbell corner, they don't have that calf raise machine, and the reverse leg press thingy.

I will have to find an alternative to get the same movement but using a different machine.

I prefer doing hyperextension at flat and not 45 degree.

Boxing / Mayweather vs [s]Khan[/s] Maidana May 3rd Coming
« on: February 10, 2014, 06:46:13 am »
According to the poll vote Mayweather used to get people to vote on who he should fight next, majority of them voted for khan and it is likely that he will be the next opponent for mayweather.

Khan hasn't looked his best, but the messages he has given and his trainer about how he has changed, which i hope, I look forward to the fight.

:wowthatwasnutswtf:

Edit: dam that coward may weather cherry picked a worse option like canelo maidana, he only chooses power punchers not fast ones like pacquiao and now khan.

If he does he knows the consequence like gatti hatton juda and other fast fighters.

I hope this ppv does worst in history

Boxing / Who Should Floyd Fight? Amir Khan or Maidana
« on: February 04, 2014, 04:45:07 pm »
Floyd has decided to let the fans vote on who he should fight next from either amir khan or maidana, funny he doesn't let us vote with pacquiao in the list, cos he knows the majority would vote pacquiao.

but nevertheless the option is amir khan or maidana, as it looks like he has a tough choice, business or challenge and everyone saying no to khan, or maidana.

you can vote here.

http://www.mayweatherpromotions.com/fan-vote/who-should-floyd-mayweather-fight-next/

I would prefer he face amir khan, because i think he has the better style over maidana, maidana would be chasing all the time and tire out and then comes floyd.

Mixed Martial Arts / silva vs weidman 2
« on: January 04, 2014, 01:27:39 pm »
Man that was a gruesome fight how it ended, it took silva's main weapon he uses away from him. Man that kick, which he did with his lower shin, which is a big no no and should have kicked with the upper shin.

Man that damage was real bad.

Nasty!

Boxing / ruslan vs alvarado
« on: October 25, 2013, 10:38:58 am »
:o Ruslan was a beast, the way he started the first round he was swinging and contacting most of the time, until later on the round alvarado knew not only did it look live he was hitting harder than rios but he was tough and could take shots well, at 4th round about he was cornering him and pounding. I love his ability to throw fast power punches to the body followed by to the head, man he is soo good at that. Then knocking him out later on by him going down that he just retired in his corner lol.

I knew alvarado would try toe to toe, but then moved on to boxing that his own trainer told to stop running, alvarado didn't notice it but he was moving a lot he felt ruslans power.

I don't think he would be able to defeat bradley still even with his power, it will be like the last match, bradley who has a strong heart, and is able to keep himself up.

Ruslan vs Matthysse would be good.

Boxing / bradley vs marquez
« on: October 14, 2013, 11:51:04 am »
It was a good night of boxing but i had a feeling marquez won't be up to it.
It's that type of thing where if A beats B and B beats C even though decision given to C doesn't always mean A would beat C.

It's all about style and that's what gives pacquiao an advantage over marquez his speed, footwork and power while marquez not good at speed and footwork chasing bradley which i think bradley did a lot of running around in the later part of the rounds.

Bradley being a boxer, strong withstanding ko blows i.e. provodnikov but his defence aint that good that's why he got caught alot by power shots buy marquez who had a higher connect percentage.

I had this feeling marquez wouldn't be that good as if you see his fights with others he didn't perform that well especially against the russian guy, in mexico, couldn't get a ko it's just because he was able to hone his skills against pacquiao who is forward coming aggressive so he waits but with bradley who is fast intelligent boxer and can move around marquez had to come forward which he is not good at.

they both performed at their usual best but marquez's style was not enough against bradley.

it was close but not that close, to have given any score to marquez.

Marquez started to adjust in the later round and bradley starting to move around alot more it was too difficult for marquez to catch him.

a good fight overall but knew marquez would not be able to pull it out.

Boxing / julio cesar vs brian vera
« on: October 01, 2013, 06:28:26 pm »
It was not as exciting as i anticipated it to be, julio cesar was slow and not active just like his last fights and was suprised to see the decision given to him, even though the other guy gave a lot of low blows or headbutts maybe he had it coming even so the judging still favoured julio even though he clearly was not the most active one, disappointed i don't he should be given a chance against martinez if he can't beat vera, he was good and threw some nice combos.

400m Sprinting or Shorter / Long Distance vs Short distance
« on: August 14, 2013, 06:59:08 am »
Hey

I just had a track session yesterday, which involved me doing 4 sets of 400m runs, with 3-4 min rest in between, which is not a lot compared to how much you are running and I was able to complete all 4 sets comfortable and tired at the end of course, which got me thinking.

Some of you probably know what happened to me last track session, where I was told to run 400m, 1-2 min rest and run 400m and then rest for around 5-10min before starting another set, but after the first rep of the first set 400m I ran a bit faster than i probably should have or maybe ran the same amount but came tired at the finish and waiting 1-2 min it was my time to come and i was a little tired but still ran out and when i approached 200m, i was soo tired i was probably dead and was constantly telling myself do not stop, it is not good to stop during a running session, i will be a quitter until i was approaching the 300m mark, my head flailing side to side, no oxygen left in my lungs just getting some from the air while running, i was like those maratthon runners at the end of the race all dead but just dragging their bodies and made it to the finish and i was so sore i could hear the echoish vibration sounds in my chest when i starting to regain my breath i knew i was finished, but after when the second set came i just could not do it. I was feeling sick as well and maybe because i was fasting, but the fasting did not affect my 150m runs x 6, 200m 30s 100m, it could be a possibility.

This got me thinking as well, I was able to run yesterday's session comfortably but this session i died on the second rep. I came to this conclusion that it seemed that it was a mental game, the longer the distance the tougher the mental challenge, because when running your brain tries to analyze and tell you, you have a long way to go, if you are not a constant runner at that distance, and it is very hard to switch that off, and that puts you off and makes you tire out quickly by making you give up quicker and you realize you are getting tired.

yesterday we had to jog 3 laps, i am always usually thinking about something, so there is always something going through my mind, so when jogging 3 laps of the track my mind was telling me you got 3 more to go and i was trying to tell myself to ignore it and just run it ignoring how much you got left but concentrate on running comfortably and was able to get through it and this was the same with the 4x400m i just ran a fast jog 30% -40% approx only concentrating on running comfortable try not to tire myself out early on, which kinda helped and also helps reserve some energy for the home straight.

the 400m known as the man killer i think because it is a combination of speed and endurance 200m and 200m. but if you are mentally set you can do it, your mind will try and tell you, its too far, you have to end up back where you started and you have just started, ...

so what do you runners and non runners think of this, is the mental aspect involved in the success of a long distance besides the physical characteristics i.e. endurance and strength and form?
