I think its great that andrew (i can call you andrew right  :ninja:) is passionate about other things besides atlhetics and sports. Its good because its good not to dedicate your entire life to athletic training without having a backup career plan. Unless you are one of the professional athletes who have their sports as their job.

I remember seeing this prince of bel air episode about this guy who had a kid and will and this guy were in a basketball competition and will let the other guy win because he had a kid and the other guy said that he wants the money for a scholarship for engineering as once you screw your knees in the nba thats it your career is done.

I myself would like to learn as much skills as i can, not only athletics, but others as well i love to learn about computers, programming, i would like to learn to be good at boxing, basketball, as well as programming, engineering, science i love to learn all these things. But some people's interest differ to others interest. Athletics and sport is not a career choice but a hobby which i try to excel at nothing i will dedicate my entire life to but as much effort i can muster.

Andrew motivated me to try achieve my goals and has helped a lot, but probably athletics didn't workout for him.

The important thing is you go out there achieve your goals whatever it may be.

i hope i have not said anything that may have offended anyone.

I am really stuck on how i can perfect my sprinting my mechanics/ form.

When at the start i aim for 3 to 4 large strides before reducing.

then at top speed come upright.

then maintain speed.

but at maintain speed i am not able to step over my knees. i can do it at slow pace but when running at full intensity sprint i can't raise my knees high enough as i am running too fast to interrupt.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

This is the phase i am stuck on. The part i get wrong. The high knee and all the stuffs.

Here is a video i found of bolt in slow motion and another video i found, which explained about the high knee and arm action.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QrlPmK4B94" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QrlPmK4B94</a>

and

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHOfeK5gSE8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHOfeK5gSE8</a>

The knee drive is the part i get wrong. Usain tucks his leg so close to his buttocks.

i can see the arm action described in the second video.

but i can't make it automatic i have to make it happen.

any one can help in the high knee and tuck the leg in.

i did high knee drills from expert village.

thanks

Boxing / Mayweather vs Cotto (spoiler alert)
« on: May 06, 2012, 03:11:27 pm »
It turned out to be a good match in the end including the undercard of mosley vs alvarez.

There were some points where cotto was really tearing mayweater apart. Then mayweater would always be able to get that sweeping right hand, which cotto did not avoid.

Funny parts when the commentator said that the people were ammused when they saw mayweather bleeding.
also when cotto might have done something wrong, touched gloves and quickley guarded, which right as after were a barrage of combo from mayweather.

A Terrific fight in the end even though cotto was not able to pull it off. Strange how cotto just went off stage after the match.

Boxing / Re: pacquiao v bradley
« on: May 02, 2012, 02:32:55 pm »
I don't have much faith in pacquiao since his last performance with marquez, if he is in good condition as he was in his prime as they say he was, which i kinda doubt, then probably good chance of pacquiao.

bradley is not an interesting fighter, he is good, but pacquiao will have to be watchful of that head, which could put this as a risk of pacquiao losing the match.

but its crazy that bradley's trainer is so sure that his fighter will beat pacquiao that he gave an offer to mayweather of 50-50 or nothing.
 :P
what a joke.

So should be an interesting match. but if pacquiao is beaten i wouldn't be suprised.

Im Going through a 2 week analysis phase of my workout to see if i should continue if i am making gains or up the intensity if i am not making enough gains.

This is the result for week 1.

I tested my flying 30m sprints accelerate then maintain timing both.
on monday, wednesday, saturday, with vest on and off.

I thought i would change my running style because i heard that you should try to step over your knees so i was wondering, which part of the run do you step over your knees, im thinking it was during the acceleration phase. as it is hard during the upright phase as my feet are at a cycle which cannot be interrupted.

through out the week and day 1 of this week it was raining and wet outside and i have a hole in the toe part of my trainer.
thanks
