^^^ +100

FP's not wrong about the racial breakdown in ultimate -- it really is almost all white -- and the common usage of a non-white person's race as an identifier. doesn't hold for just black people, either: there's an elite player in DC who's southeast asian, just an incredible athlete (for ultimate) with great skills, and i've heard plenty of people say stuff like, "man have you seen that asian dude on truck stop? dude can play." race is an easy identifier when almost everyone is white. doesn't make it a good habit.

fwiw, i try consciously to use some other identifying feature than race when i'm talking about someone, even when race would be the obvious/easy thing to use.

have only eaten one small chocolate: they don't have dark chocolate in the office and other than going out to dinner and drinking i haven't had any time outside the hotel or office. people here don't make a big deal out of it. i should probably pick some up tomorrow morning, though, since i don't have any obligations before i have to head to the airport.

today:

- daily routine

three of my colleagues were killed in northern afghanistan yesterday.

i can't read all this shit because it makes me rage blackout. but i caught a couple of things. first, kobe nicknamed himself the black mamba, which is fucking stupid. also the idea that kobe was better than lebron is HILARIOUS. not by any measure is that true except maybe three-point shooting, which, it's not like kobe was a lights-out shooter.

also, i hate the argument about a player not being as good as another because he doesn't have the work ethic. we've had this discussion before about randy moss. couple reasons:
1. do you follow the player around all day and observe how he uses his time? you don't? right, right.
2. granted that the player isn't working as hard as you think he could, are you sure that if the player worked harder he would be better? what proof do you have that he wouldn't burn out or break down if he worked "harder"? none? oh, okay, cool.

in conclusion, lebron james is the best basketball player in the world and has been for most of the last decade. THE BEST. there is literally not a single person on earth better than him, out of 7+ billion. so to say he would be better if he did this or did that or worked harder or whatever is just ridiculous.

yeah summer ramadan is brutal.

progress is good. stomach shrinkage also.  :lololol:

yeah a 7-5 job means getting up early but it also means having evenings free. what's the restriction?

3879
i don't think i'll have time for either of those. but this will not be my last trip to gva, i think being in pakistan will mean at least 1-2x/year here. chamonix looks awesome.

passed the f out last night after dinner, was so tired. this morning didn't have time to do full daily routine so did:

- circuit x 3
-- squat x 50
-- YTW x 10
-- push up x 10

- SL jumps x 5,5

- stretch

calling a black person a monkey is super duper racist. suggest picking a different epithet if you don't like him.

EDIT: looks like you changed or deleted that post so this no longer makes sense.

in geneva until friday midday for meetings, although i kind of irritatingly have been excluded from the two this afternoon, both of which i'm quite interested in and probably should be in. oh well, big boss wanted a smaller group and i'm literally brand-new in this role so i don't have much to contribute. we're staying in france because there are apparently several conferences going on right now and they couldn't get enough hotel rooms on this side.

i did not sleep well on the flight, the jet lag is coming in waves.
