Still not as cool as what Victor Wooten can do with a conventional bass.

No energy drink needed, brah. Just a close-as-hell Michigan victory over our second-most-hated rival. GO BLUE.

Well the tournament was a complete fucking wash. Our captains are nice guys but they suck. One of them got us disqualified for violating the roster rules. So we played three games but needless to say they're all forfeit and we don't get to play tomorrow. I played unevenly but not horribly and my ankle felt 100% throughout. So that was a win.

Also a win: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/conversation?gameId=302540087

Lb got ur answer, barefoot runnin is the way. Fat pad trainers make u strike the ground harder as u try to feel the ground through your sole. I also recommend smashin ur soleus wiv ur opposite knee. You'v had lower leg soreness for awhile, soleus is a big cause for lower back aches 2oo.

Sorry if u kno this, but u gota crush them trigger points multiple times evryday xD

PeeeZzz

You type funny.

W/r/t midfoot adaptation, why not start with some high-volume extensive tempo on grass, barefoot? Keep running naturally in shoes (i.e. heel-toe) but cut back the volume, and add something like 2500m of tempo in five sets, with double the time of the run as rest before the next rep, and double the time of the 100m rest periods as the rest between sets. Charlie Francis style:

11111
1211
221
1112
2111

That would start to accustom you to maintaining a good pace with your COG farther forward.

Another quick thing: From the Sports Science guys' series on running, one thing that seems to lead people to injuries is trying to force a different heel strike than is "natural" while wearing shoes. So maybe spring for some FiveFingers or start toughening up those soles?

Word, I would want to work my way up to that and the mile, too, considering I haven't run more than 100m in a straight line at any speed since...June?

Assuming you meant mine...

40 time?

Good question

100m time?

Good question

mile time?

Good question

Haha. I'm still out of shape at the moment, so my guess for each would be suck, suck and suck. I'm booked this weekend but my last attempt at testing was a complete wash, so I'm going to do some real baseline, with proper planning, probably the weekend after this (will take me at least a week to recover from my tournament this weekend).

I'm not especially concerned with any of the things you asked about, but the fact of your asking makes me want to know. So either thanks for motivating me or fuck you for complicating things, I'm not sure which, lol.  ;D

Just did a little running today to loosen my legs up. Everything was barefoot on turf except the warm up jog

warm up
jog x.5 mi
sprint drills (high knees, butt kickers, etc.)
10 yard build-ups

work
20 yard sprint x5
tempo run 1000m -- 11111 11111 -- 16-19s pace, 40s between reps, 80s between sets

cool down
stretch

Basket tournament?

probably ultimate frisbee, didn't know he was ready to do tournaments though either.

get better lbss brosef.

Correctamundo. Yeah, practice has gone well the last two times ankle-wise, feeling strong, and this is basically my last chance to play this year before the season ends and I plow into training with no athletic distractions. So I'm playing, but the slightest tweak will end my weekend. Hopefully there will be no tweak, and hopefully if the tweak comes it's just that.

EDIT: Vitamin C superdosing + placebo effect = feeling better.  :highfive:

interesting info, i need to get a battery for my heart rate monitor.. it's interesting how tiring MR tuck's are.. i mean, they really kill everyone.. i feel more tired doing 10-15 MAX tuck jumps than if i did a 60-80 yard sprint etc.. so your data seems to fit how I feel also.

hahaha. good point. When I was in high school me and a friend of mine both bought a pair of strength shoes and did plyos in them.  I remember the workouts called for a TON of tuck jumps, like 4 sets of 20. The first workout I nearly passed out doing them and he lost his lunch.

haha nice.. you ever puke during training? I sort of puked once, but I had basically eaten a massive lunch then performed some seriously high rep squatting, came up a bit.. other than that, never puked.

Once, during college, I ate a grilled cheese and a bunch of curly fries immediately before practice. Practice then started (after warm ups) with suicides. Up came the grilled cheese and curly fries. Lesson learned.

EDIT: Keep in mind that he's 5'8" or so and has never trained for explosiveness at all until he started oly lifts this summer.
